The buyer had built retail and project accounts across Punjab and Sindh on imported European flooring lines, but margin pressure pushed them to explore direct China sourcing for SPC click-lock planks and commercial-grade LVT. Three Alibaba contacts offered aggressive EXW pricing and claimed factory-direct status, yet none could provide consistent wear-layer documentation, batch shade references, or export references to South Asia markets.
A prior trial through an unverified intermediary delivered two shade batches mixed inside master cartons — a costly failure that forced the buyer to discount 1,800 sqm at clearance pricing. Internal policy now required independent supplier verification before any deposit and mandatory pre-shipment inspection on every container until two consecutive passes were recorded. The procurement lead also needed MOQ alignment for four SKUs across two wood-grain collections and underlayment accessories, with sea freight economics that worked for import from China to Pakistan delivery to Karachi and inland transfer to Lahore.
Timeline added pressure: Ramadan-season project tenders required first container arrival within fourteen weeks of supplier selection. The buyer could not visit Jiangsu or Guangdong factories in person and needed a Nanjing-based partner to shortlist manufacturers, coordinate golden samples, and structure payment gates tied to documented QC — not factory self-declaration.
